Local Marine honored after dying in California car crash

OREM, Utah — A U.S. Marine from Utah was honored Saturday after he was killed in a crash in California last month.

Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew Ryan Adams was just 19 years old when he was killed by a wrong-way driver on January 14th, 2020. California Highway Patrol said that a 42-year-old male was attempting to flee from police when he collided head-on with Adams on the interstate in San Diego. Both the driver and Adams were pronounced dead at the scene.

Orem residents lined the streets Saturday to pay tribute to him.

The Orem Police and Fire departments helped organize all of the people that came out as his procession was lead by local veterans riding motorcycles.

Family and friends say Adams had a love for our country, his family and his faith.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for his family and can be found here.
